Coffee House 2017

YABC Students performed the semi-annual YABC Acoustic music showcase. Performers of different music disciplines ranging from guitar, spoken word, original piano composition, and vocalist performed a live acoustic show in front of the Lehman Campus. This warm and welcoming atmosphere is a wonderful place for students to showcase all of their talents and hard work.

Thanksgiving 2017

YABC @ Lehman High School held their 10th annual Thanksgiving Party!!

The entire YABC family was invited and when we say family we really mean family. Students, Former Students, Parents, Grandparents, Children, Teachers, Administrators as well as others all joined together for a beautiful celebration of how thankful we are. Bless up !

Breakfast & lunch are available for morning exam takers, and lunch & a snack are available for afternoon exam takers.  Please see below for further information about what you need to bring with you to take the exam.

WHAT TO BRING:

For all exams, please bring several No. 2 pencils with erasers and blue or black ink pens, as well as this admission ticket.  If you are taking a math or science exam, you are permitted to use your own calculator as long as it meets the state requirements.  Ask your content (math or science) teacher about your calculator model if you are not sure.

OKAY TO BRING, BUT CANNOT ENTER TESTING ROOM:

1)     Cell phones; we recommend not bringing a cell phone or similar device.  If you do, you will deposit your phone in a pouch with your name on it upon entering the building and retrieve it at the end of the exam as per any school day.

2)     Water bottles with printed labels are not allowed in the testing rooms.  You can tear off the label or simply bring a clear empty bottle with no label that can be filled at the water fountain inside the school building.

College Tour Fall 2017

This fall students travelled north to experience college life at three different colleges in the beautiful rural setting of the north east. Students went to SUNY Delhi, Schenectady County Community College and Hudson Valley Community College. As a nice bonus students were afforded the opportunity to visit the Howe Caverns.

Rob Markman and Sean C Visit YABC Lehman

Yabc Lehman was lucky enough to have a visit from two pioneers in their field this past week.

Rob Markman is a veteran hip-hop journalist and Genius Manager of Artist Relations. He got his start freelancing for publications like Complex, The Source, VIBE, and Don Diva magazines. He has held full-time editor positions at SCRATCH, XXL, MTV News and now Genius, where he has been since August 2015. During his career, Markman has interviewed artists like Jay Z, Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, Drake, J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar. Rob Markman is currently The Director of Artist Relations at Genius.

Sean C is an American producer, DJ and “artists and repertoire” (A&R) specialist. Sean is a member of production duo Sean C & LV (Grind Music) which is affiliated with Sean Combs’ Hitmen producers.As a DJ, Sean C co-founded the New York DJ crew The X-Men (renamed The X-Ecutioners) Sean worked as an A&R for Steve Rifkind’s Loud Records and SRC Records imprints. He is credited as A&R and executive producer for Mobb Deep, Dead Prez, Big Pun, Terror Squad, Remy Ma and The X-Ecutioners. Sean C has produced songs for Jay-Z, Big Pun, Diddy, Jadakiss and Fabolous among others. He was nominated for best rap album Grammy awards for Jay Z’s American Gangster and for Big Pun’s debut Capital Punishment.
