1. In cassette 3 side a Hannah says that ” in high school, people are always watching so there’s always a reason to pose” (94). What does this have to do with Courtney? Why did Hannah feel insulted by Courtney?
2. In cassette 3 side b Hannah tells the story about Marcus. What did he do to her and how did other people react? What would you have done?
3. In cassette 4 side a Hannah talks about Peer Communication class. Why did she join the class? How did Zach hurt her? Hannah also talks about things she did that could have shown that she was depressed? What did she do? How would you have reacted if you saw a similar anonymous note?
4. Cassette 4 side b Hannah tried to deal with her depression. What did she talk about in cassette 4 side b? Why didn’t it work for her?

cassette 3 side A:
Hannah says that there’s always a reason to pose in high school because everyone is always watching. She meant that there will always be rumors spread around, and everyone will know the “411″ about everyone. Courtney tries to create this person of herself, a nice cool girl who’s always there for everyone… no bad names. But Hannah knew what she was doing she thought she was a fake and only used her. Hannah felt insulted by Courtney because she only wanted a ride to the party. She did not really want to be seen with her.

In cassette 3 side a Hannah meant that in high school people dress up and try to look the best to impress other kids at school. People act a certain way in school so they can be portrayed as something they’re not. This has to do with Courtney because she pretended to be Hannah’s friend so she can seem popular nd seem to be a good person but she’s not because she just uses people. Hannah felt that Courtney insulted her because she lied and told everyone that Hannah had something hidden in her drawer like a “toy” or some type of vibrator.
In casstte 3 side b Hannah tells us the story about Marcus how he was like her secret valentine. They were supposed to meet at the diner and eat, but he came extremely late. They were sitting in the booth together, and he’s trying to feel up on her and take advantage of her. Hannah pushed him out of the booth on to the floor and no one said or tried to do anything about it. They just simply ignored her. If I was there I would’ve smacked him and seen if she was ok.
In cassette 4a Hannah talks about her last resort – peer communication class. Hannah felt that this will be better for her because she’ll be able to express herself and she wouldn’t feel so depressed/ alone. Zach hurt her because in the class each student has a comment bag, that they can send comments to each other. Zach stole all of Hannah’s comments and that was like the only thing she was looking foward to; to take her mind off of her depression.
Hannah decided to do something more obivous to show everyone she was depressed by cuttin off most of her hair ( she cut it into a short bob)
In cassette 4b Hannah talks bout how she tried to deal with her depression by going to a poetry club beacause she figured someone would probably be able to understand her. This didn’t work for her because Ryan stole her book and made a massive printing of the poems so the whole school read her personal poems.

In cassette 3 side b: Hannah tells us about how Marcus was her “oh my dollar valentine” and how he sort of stood her up on their date at Rosie’s Diner. He did show up but about half hour late, and that really annoyed her . Then he tried to touch her leg while they sat together. She shoved him off the stool and she was shocked and afraid. Others did nothing about it. If it was me I would have told someone I felt violated.

Cassette 4 side a: Hannah joined peer communication class because she thought it was the most fun class out of all. People were able to express themselves like they couldn’t in other classes or terms. People would write notes to each other and tell each other compliments without being out loud about it. But when another student was stealing her notes, she was upset and decided to set him up. As she did and found out it was this boy, Hannah didn’t know what to do so that just added on to the list

Hannah tried to leave an anonymous note to her class so they would discuss the topic before the lesson. They did discuss the topic, but she got a negative outcome of what she wanted to hear.

Hannah joined the class because she thought it was a fun class and thought it was cool that everyone could express themselves in that class. Students had to write compliments and place them in other students’ bags. Zack took out all the notes that were in Hannah’s bag. By taking her notes and throwing them out he made things bad for her. If it were me, I’d be hurt. However, I’d ask the person why they did it.

1. in cassette 3 side A Hannah meant that in high school kids tend to put out a certain image of themselves known to everyone and once they set that certain image for themselve they have to live up to it always in the eyes of their peers at school because they will always notice.
3. in cassette 4 side A Hannah joins the peer communications class becuase she wanted to see if it would help with her depression to see how her peers would react. Zach hurt her by removing all the nice notes that she would get from other students in the peer commincations class from her bag before she could read them and it made her think that no one cared enough about her to even give her good comments. Some of the signs of being depressed that Hannah showed were the cutting of her hair, the giving away of her possesions and the changes in her attitude like her breakdown in the hallway. I think if i saw a similar anonymous note i honestly wouldnt know how to respond except to tell the class that whoever is the writer of the note could go to their doctor and their doctor could refer them to a psychiatrist if they wanted to talk about it

1)
In cassette 3 side a Hannah meant that in high school people like to dress to impress the other kids at school so that they will have something to say . In high school kids act a certain way so they can be something they’re not. This relates to Courtney because she had pretended to be Hannah’s friend so she can be popular and seem to be a good person, but she’s not. She just likes to use people like Hannah . Hannah was mad because she felt that Courtney betrayed and lied to her and told everyone that Hannah had something hidden in her drawer like a “toy” or some type of vibrator.
2)In cassette 3 side b: Hannah talks about how Marcus and how he sort of stood her up on their first date at Rosie’s Diner. He showed up but about half hour late and that made Hannah very upset . Then he tried to touch her leg while they sat together. She shoved him off the stool and she was shocked and afraid. Others did nothing about it.If Marcus did that to me, I would have punched him in his face and then walk out and never talk to him again.
3) In cassette 4a Hannah talks about her going to a peer communication class. Hannah felt that if she took this, it will be better for her because she will be able to express herself and she wouldn’t feel so depressed all the time. Zach hurt her because in the class each student has a comment bag, that they can send comments to each other. Zach stole all of Hannah’s comments and that was like the only thing she was looking foward to take her mind off of her depression. Hannah decided to show everyone she was depressed by cutting off her hair into a short bob. If it were me, I would be hurt but I would ask the person why they did it.

1.)In Cassette 3side A Hannah says ” In high school people are always watching so there’s always a reason to pose” this has a lot to do with Courtney because Courtney is one of the many in high school that are always posing all the time . She made Hannah think they were friends but all Courtney wanted was the spot light in high school. Courtney used Hannah for a ride to the party . Courtney using Hannah made Hannah feel insulted because Hannah thought Courtney was really her friend and thought Courtney was the nice girl everyone talked about and talked to in school.
2.)In Cassette 3 side B: Hannah talks about Marcus her valentine date. Marcus and Hannah were supposed to meet up at Rosie diner a diner were Hannah used to go to with her old friends .Marcus kept Hannah waiting for a long time but showed up . On top of Marcus showing up late he begins to push up on Hannah touching her upper thigh and Hannah pushed him to the floor. Not one of the many that were a the diner and witness what Marcus was trying to do with Hannah did anything they sat there and watched .
3.) In cassette 4 A: Hannah joined the class because she thought it will be fun to know what people have to say about her in school and felt it was cool that everyone could express themselves in that class. Students had to write notes/compliments and place them other students’ bags with out telling who put t the note in each others bags. Zack took out all the notes that were in Hannah’s bag before Hannah will get to her bag. Zack did this because he wanted to get back at Hannah for turning him down. By Zack taking Hannah notes and throwing them out he made things worst for Hannah because she will look forward to her notes because it made her feel people cared. Hannah showed this meant a lot to her because she became depress not seeing any notes in her bag she even cut her hair to see if anyone had anything to say .If i were in this situation i don’t know what i would have done .
4. Cassette 4 side b Hannah tried to deal with her depression and joined the poetry club. Ryan trying to help Hannah with her poetry made every worst he began to understand what her poetry meant and felt everyone should read it and Hannah didn’t want that but Ryan stole her poetry book and let all her poems out to the whole school. Poetry class didn’t work for Hannah because now Hannah felt” even her thoughts were being offered up for ridicule “in school.
